The Dragon Heart Series

The series begins in the northeast of England where a boy of Celtic and Saxon parents is taken as a slave to Norway. Thanks to an old, crippled warrior he becomes, himself, a Viking warrior and joins his new family to raid the lands of Northumbria and Mercia. Settling, first in the Isle of Man and then the land of the wolf, the lands around Helvellyn, he becomes a leader of a clan that fights for survival in the northwest of England. Finding the pommel stone of the sword of the Brigante, the eponymous Dragonheart establishes a dynasty that endures long beyond the Dark Ages.
