The Anarchy Series

This is the story of a character from the Housecarl series, who returns to England with his son and his oathsworn brothers. A chance meeting with King Henry 1st leads to him being given a manor in England. All thoughts of a peaceful life end with the death, not only of the king, but his first-born son. The series chronicles the civil war that became known as the Anarchy when Stephen of Blois fought with his cousin, Henry’s daughter Matilda, for the crown of England and the Dukedom of Normandy. We see the conflict through the eyes of the eponymous English Knight, Alfred of Stockton. We see the rise of one of the greatest of English kings, Matilda’s son, Henry II.
