It is not just the sea and the weather which tries to kill them it is the animals in the land that they find and it is the Skraeling, the natives who see them as a threat from the east. The clan flees danger but finds more in this new world in the west.

Originally I planned this as a three-book series but the characters refused to allow that and there will be at least one more book in the series. What is interesting is the number of e-mails I have had from readers with evidence of the Vikings as far west as the Dakotas and Minnesota. I have thoroughly enjoyed the what-if aspect of this series for there is, for once, virtually no written evidence of what their life might have been like. The Icelandic sagas tell of them finding the new world and how they came across the Skraeling but that is all.
