Two of my series are now almost concurrent. Border Knight has arrived at the time of King Edward 1st when he was Lord Edward. This story finds the northern knights forced to protect the young Prince Edward when Simon de Montfort makes his first attempt to assert himself and take power in Poitou.
This was a tricky book to write as Covid meant I could not do as I originally intended and travel to Aquitaine to research. The latest variant also means that I have had to postpone my trip to Northern Italy where I was going to visit Sir John Hawkwood’s battlefields. For me that is always the preferred method of research but the way things are I will have to keep using the primary sources and as they are always written by the winners then one needs to be careful in the information one uses.
