The Sir John Hawkwood series is now complete. I really enjoyed writing it and it is clear, having spoken to many readers on my recent travels, that it is a favourite for many of you. That he is little known now is sad, for in his lifetime he was one of the most important men in Europe. He was a friend to Geoffrey Chaucer and King Richard II. He was both an ally and a friend, at different times, to popes. He was, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most intriguing Englishmen ever to have lived.
